called into headmistress

dropped my youngest two of this morning, and temp reception teacher asked if headmistress could have word about my boy.
hes been out of sorts since full time teacher left in nov, he is like his mum as ocd and likes stucture to what hes doing when at school, and to lesser degree at home.
went in nervous as hell, she starts with tayler is having problems with his work.
then goes on hes finding it to easy and getting bored easily are you happy for us to move him into year one on mornings so he gets more of a challenge?
also turns out he is reading books for year two, which explains why he is changing books so often.
he told teacher he likes reading cos he wants to read manuals for my tools so he can use them.

also been told hes got the learning certificate for kids that do exceptionally well.

well proud of him.

as a thought does anyone else still get nervous if called to head teacher?

and there is usually a bad reason for her to get called in,

I dislike the fact that when kids get excluded, you get a threatening letter from school about the kid is not to be seen out in public, if that's the case why are you excluding them, rewarding them with time off for bad behaviour seems utterly mad!

hats off to you mate we foster dogs for rescue centre and its hard enough handing them back at times.
cant imagine how hard it is to hand kids back, espec if theyve come from really bad background.

My partners kid did her science GCSE when she was 13 and took two extra ones when she was 14, my partner actually calls the head as she feels the school is letting her kid down.

As for myself i used to get my mum called into the head once or twice a month. Never did me any harm but caused a few stressful days for one or two teachers

Well done on being a foster carer, my parents fostered when i was a kid. You deserve a medal as i know it can be really hard at times

oh hes def into manuals.
was sorting out ones from stuff we dont have and he was wanting to look through them.

any time i cant find manual or tech book i just need to look in his book box.

Seriously keep the kid busy, a lot of people with 'odd' behaviour patterns get frustrated and neglected by the system. I spent years thwarting people in my old job.

i do try to keep him busy chunko.
he wants to build motor bike after he sat down and watched the entire biker build off box set.
hes always hitting bits of metal with hammers over different formers to see what he ends up.

My young fella (5) is desperate to build stuff with daddy and weld etc...

We were called into school about his behaviour only about a month into his first year about his behaviour, basically not listening and being disruptive.

He has improved a lot and think thrives on structure and doing something he enjoys, but nowadays the school seems to tell parents even just small naughty things they do like pushing or puddle splashing...bit pathetic to me really

My boy was welding when he was about 6, I had some real flack from my 'Grown Up' brother about risk taking etc. He even mumbled about social services being interested.
Good grief!
I did suggest that he mind his own business.

Naughty boy ,
Get him onto drill size charts for clearance tapping and interference fits
a few thread chart booklets s like whitworth BSF BSC ANF ANC UNC AIRCRAFT and metric . then introduce him to some sheet metal work pages like riveting & development of metal forms etc. then haynes manual and basic 12 /24 volt electrical fault finding


That's how I converted from an awkward supposedly dumb FLK ( Funny Little Kid )into an engineer of sorts in electronics and things mechanical .
