I bought a Casio calculator when I started college at 16 (1980), one of the blue fluorescent display types.
As the years went by the keyboard got more and more intermittent until I eventually stripped it down, cleaned the membrane layers with IPA and reassembled it, after which it'd work fine again for a few more months then gradually start playing-up again.
About 5 years ago I finally tired of its games and after a particularly infuriating session trying to do my expenses I punched its lights out (literally) and threw it in the bin. By then it was 27 years old.
I still have the Casio LCD watch my parents got me for my 16th birthday (most of the lads at school had chunky red LED watches, mine was futuristic and slim ), it's on its fourth battery (and third strap) in 33 years...

One of my classmates had a red LED watch for xmas in the early 70's, had to press a button to light up the digits, he demonstrated it that much the battery died within a couple of days!
I bought a calculator in 1974 - cost me £15 which was a full weeks wages !
I've still got my government issue (Civil Service) Sharp EL230 which is 25+ years old and still works perfectly. I was injured and couldn't meet the fitness level required to return to work so they gave me early retirement. My personal belongings were parcelled up and sent to me - including the calculator hence how I still have it.
