CAD and importing pictures

Im building a tubular chassis for my 1953 ford F100 pickup, now ive seen one in the USA made by No Limit engineering, love everything about it but the price $22,500 and they have to have the pickup with them for reference, now the pick up is here in my workshop and i dont intend on sending it back, Tube is ordered and being collected on Thursday. Now i have a picture and using my pickup for certain measurements im sure i can scale the picture, but didnt know if anyone could use their design and my measurements to spit out a drawing, or just get it blown up on a photocopier and just make it by eye..... what do you reckon

This is the sort of thing Me & Chevy2 do all the time, First thing you will need is a decent frame jig, then a decent tube bender & a tube notcher to start, I presume you will be tig welding it ???

Any particular reason for not using the original frame ?

Just to let you know also i'm a dealer for most of the Ford/Chevy truck part company's and have air shipments each week.

think you will find it difficult at that angle to reverse it back to a drawing. Have you asked them for a CAD drawing? You can always pay for it I suppose else its going to be a trial and copy job

Just ask them if they will sell the drawings to you as you are in the UK and shipping will be a fortune, they may help... Though I am sure they wont

ah ha, Mr Langy, i have a 3.5 metre jig table, i have a hydraulic pipe bender easily capable of bending 2" 3mm, ive made my milling machine into a giant tube notcher, and i have a tig capable of weldng tube, does it have to be tig??? i would have asked these questions on rods and sods as i see you there, but there are too many talkers who spew out drivel, and not enough doers,and people who will happily shoot you down in a ball of flames. please dont take offence,reckon it can be copied to some degree,

RKDE- i did ask but thats why they said they needed my pick-up to ensure everything would work and fit, without actually saying it, no they wouldnt help, as i could then use their drawings and mass produce chassis

It would be a much nicer job tigged in my opinion, I havn't used a mig on any jobs for years to be honest. 3.5metre table is nice but a F100 frame is around 16ft long.
You won't have seen me on R&S as i'm banned, I agree in what you said about most of the users of that site, there are a few good people there though, unfortunately they didn't like being told Its no loss to me at all.

im happy to use the bed to have reappy just the wheelbase on the jig, or slide everything along to fix the front/rear

curiosity question Dr Nik seeing as your building a non standard chassis, will it need to be seen by vosa and have a sva test ?

My jig is also 3.5 metres, but i just bolt another longer jig on top of it
