In the next few months I will be hopefully insulating & panelling the inside of my van to convert it into a day van. Along the side of the roof there is a very convenient hollow steel section, perfect for running cables front to back. Unfortunately there are vertical bits joining it & it is nearly impossible to get a wire fed down the horizontal bit without it dropping down one of the verticals. My nylon fish tape is useless, too flexible, after an hour of trying I eventually got a thin coat hanger down it. In hindsight I should have left a draw cord in it but never thought of it at the time!

I have also considered running some plastic trunking along the corner of the roof to match the one Citroen fitted on the opposite side but I will still need to feed cables down it.

I'm hoping the fibreglass rods will be stiff enough to run horizontally. I think I'll try one of the cheap sets for around £10 and see how I get on.

If it's dropping down and getting stuck after a few feet try spinning the draw cord between your fingers as this will sometimes get it to jump up and clear the obstruction.
