Cable size for single phase 3 hp motor

I need to fit a supply to my table saw, I have a spare way in the garage db, I plan to fit a 32a rated mcb type C and a 2m run of 4 mm csa twin and earth to a 16a socket , the cabling and plug to the saw are 2.5 mm 3c ,
Would this be over kill?

Aside from cost you can't really go overkill.
Even if the cable is larger than you need for the power consumption it gives better mechanical protection.

Although if it's a 16a Socket I'd fit a 16a breaker for it.

its only 12 amps flc. wire it in 2,5mm with 16 amp socket and a 16 type c breaker
