Was in the local shop today and was asked "Can you have a quick look at this for me Its not working at all". Its a little slush machine, so I took the side panels off and the plastic cover for the compressor.
Thought to my self looks like red is the live and the green the neutral, as that's how I would expect these compressors to be wired, but wait a minute better check the plug.
Thank god for that UK standards, open it up to check everything is ok
Ahh Red is not live but its neutral, and black is live which is then connected to the green, which then is connected to the blue (which you would expect to be neutral) and neutral is the red which is connected to the black compressor klickson (which would usually be connected to the live)
Right that's easy enough, It really helps to be cross eyed and colour blind with this electricery.
So compressor connected back to front as what is the norm, and cables all different colours makes a simple 30 seconds test take a little longer but a lot more fun Eh!.
Moral of the story Do not go by cable colours as the chap that put it together did not go to the same school as you.
