I'm currently using an older food grade CO2 bottle for welding (used to have it for homebrew beer) and as its getting low I'm looking to swap to a co2/argon mix.
Will my reg from the Co2 bottle fit on a Hobbyweld 5 bottle or will I need to get a different reg?
Have a look at WECSLTD on the bay, they are in Sheffield and as I was up there earlier in the week I looked em up and popped in, very friendly and knowledgable, so bought myself a new reg for a pub style bottle, reasonably priced too
machine mart sell adaptors (ref 010120115) for £7.19, but I've been informed on here that its not a good idea to use them as the pressure in the cylinder is higher with argon compared to co2. also if you dont have a 2 gauge regulator you wont know how much argon you have left.
Optima sort of has the right sense of it. You can get adapters but it's not so much an issue with the pressure as most regs these days are all just oxygen regs with different labels and bottle fittings (done for cheapness)
What brand reg do you have and how old is it? I should be able to give you a pointer if you are safe to use the adapter.
