Buying my first mig welder - Help

Hi everyone,

So I am looking to purchase my first mig-welder. Unfortunately I do not have a lot of budget to play with. Ideally £100 - £200 max.

I am going to use the welder for a lot of vehicle repairs and restoration.

Any suggestions you could give me would help massively! Also need to budget some decent gauntlets and heatshield on top... But want to set my sights on a welder first and go from there!

I would say given that statement you should be aiming a little higher with the budget.

Your budget would get you a secondhand clarke 151 mig. There's plenty on facebook marketplace. I'm assuming you don't have PPE, Gas & Reg. I'd budget the same again for these items.

I was hoping for around 250-300 for everything altogether.

Is there a specific mig welder which is ideal for my use?

In terms of usage it will just be repairing panels and floors mainly on my car. I want to get a starter set if you like on a budget and get some experience in and then start to work on the car.

cost price for you on getting a full first time setup

clarke mig 151 220.00 with machine mart voucher
boc gas account lets say 80.00
mig wire 20 for a 5kg roll .5 roll its surprising how quick you go through it
gloves and auto welding mask 30-40.00
and grinder and discs 30.00 + 10 for some discs
