Hotchef, what size is the smaller nozzle?

I connected my nozzle to the blast hose using 1/2" plumbing fittings so I could unscrew the nozzle easily when I get a blockage.
I just leave it hand tight so don't need to go looking for tools.

I purchased the 3 sizes they had I'll check the invoice for sizes 2.something

what size compressor is that? my too could not keep up wit my 3mm nozzle

It's an abac 90l 3hp circa11-13cfm IIRC. Dcal indicated that I could get away with 3mm. It'll come with 2 5mm as well I believe.
Anyone know if medium will go through these nozzles, or should I have got fine?

probably 1.0mm max

my nozzles were 2.5 3 and 3.5mm you will be ok with 3mm u might have to wait for the compressor to catch up i did

I can cope with that :-)
I'm concerned that the grit looks a bit big though - medium glass.

I think I would have got fine but you have it now try the 3mm nozzle if it blocks try the 5mm

From what has been said, I think my compressor would struggle with the 5mm?
I may well be able to swap it (unopened bags)

yes i think it will struggle with the 3mm nozzle

Just looking at fittings. Couldn't find on their website, but info from other sources: pcl standard (airflow?) 40cfm, XF 130cfm. If my compressor puts out 13cfm does it make a difference?

if you are just starting out why not go XF as standard will restrict some bigger tools

Re the mask - get a proper blasting helmet with replaceable tear-offs. Cheap as chips on Ebay now - mine cost £200 10 years ago!

Don't forget to allow for the air supply. I changed mine to work off a blower rather than the compressor, just replaced the air supply with a vacuum cleaner hose.

I will, just wondered as I'm a bit sketchy WRT pressure. Also the compressor has 2 pcl couplings already on & they're £8 a pop at screwfix.

For this job I'm going to add material extensions to the crappy hood that comes with it , coupled with an old bath jacuzzi blower I have. I'll see how I go on from there.

^^ Good luck - I tried everything, including an upturned bucket with eye holes cut in it. Clear plastic drinks bottles make good disposable visors.

Makes sense.
I have a sewing machine so I planned to add more material, as heavy as I can find to make it more in line with pukka ones.

i do mine outside on the tar on a fine day with a homemade pressure pot, once fiinished i suck everything up with an old dyson , any crap gets sucked up to adding to the mixture .i then sieve it into a pale to reuse .

Pot has turned up. Now to get hose. Is there a convention on hoses, eg two have one each of plug & socket at the ends, or two plugs with the sockets on the machinery?
