people with small; compressors may buy a 20 gallon pot then find there compressor tank is about the same size .the instant you pressurise it you have lost half your pressure before you start and then have to rely on the comp pump that cant keep up with a high pressure then pot uses more grit with less force

one of the biggest problems with most set ups doing open blasting is containing the mess and its preferable to have an air fed blast helmet and a good air supply or use a cabinet with a decent 4 inch woodchip extracta fan and use it with a pressurised pot

I'm planning to use a 3m x 3m gazebo, tape the side curtains, a tarp on the ground & up the walls a bit.

Airfed mask will be a lash-up using the crappy hood that comes with it (I plan to add material to body part & improve it somewhat) or something else, maybe Optima's Honeywell helmet if I have to. Under this will be my Sundstrom half-face mask. It will be fed air by an old bath jacuzzi blower I use for odd things.

Another reason for the 10 gal then. My tank is 90l.
I have another smaller Stanwell 3.7cfm oil-free compressor which I could try & press into service, but it needs a bit of TLC & I was hoping not to for this job as I'm running behind.

10 gal will be fine, it's more than big enough for your compressor and you will be glad of the break waiting for the air to catch up.
I wouldn't send too much time fetteling the Stanwell. Waiting on the air building up will probably take less time than getting it up and running properly with your main compressor.

What CFM can your compressor run? Mine's rated at about 11 so not the greatest. Which pot did you go for?

I went for the cheap 10 gal one from ebay, not sure what CFM my compressors are but I have 2 running together.

I'll be ordering my stuff today & getting on with blasting ASAP. I'll report back on how my Frankenhood fares.
On Optima's post, he tapes replaceable acetate sheets to his visor to protect the expensive mask one. That's a top tip IMO, especially if you have a nice spraying mask.

Hi, possibly last question, thanks.
Just trying to put my order together. I'm a complete noob with air fittings and I don't like it! I read that the 10 gall pot needs 3/8" hose, I can deal with that but I can't work out what connector to go on the pot inlet PCL or euro? and what form. I think it might be this at both ends?

I presumed no connector comes with the pot but I could be wrong.
Looks to be a 1/4 female there to take what connector you choose.

Thanks for those. Been looking at hoses - they all have different terminations: the Screwfix one I saw had male threaded ends, but I've since seen others. No standard here then.

I'll have to wait till my pot turns up then hoof it to Screwfix. I think my compressor fittings are PCL so I'll run with that.

My media turned up this evening. Got four sacks of glass, medium grade. Hope that's not too big for 3mm nozzle,
