My acetylene welding gas is REMARKABLY inflammable but I know what you mean, all welding shielding gases are inert!Welding gases are all inert - non flammable.
So no need to worry about where it's stored. The only issue can be breakage of the gauge if it topples over but that's about it.

Kind of....
Alot of gas mixes have a small percentage of oxygen making it active, (mag) rather than mig.
I think they all have less oxygen then the surrounding air though?
So in the event of a fire, you would be better off opening the bottle in the shed rather than dragging it away from the flames!
Yea, Argon and c02 are heavy and will sink.I remember there being concerns over a bottle that had leak down completely over night in the workshop the contents of which had gone into the pit ?

I'm talking from a technical standpoint, that the shielding gas can be classified as active with the addition of oxygen and other gasses,Welding gases are all inert - non flammable.

It was from Stoke way, I guess if it is its changed hands a couple of times till me. Do you have any pictures of your friends machine?did you pick that up from a old farm barn property in shropshire by any chance?
