Hi all, great forum.
I've a little project to tackle. The diff pan on my landrover has a hole in the top. After variuous attempts to seal it with chemical metal, riveted plates and gasket paste etc i've decided to weld it up myself.
Been toying with the idea of buying a welder for some time as i have a few other jobs to do an an old triumph aswell.
Now, do i buy an Arc £70 in B&Q, or a mig £130 in B&Q. I realise these arnt top of the line units, but it'll only get used once a year!
The metal thickness of the diff pan, well, not got a measurement but i'd say 1 - 1.5 mm. Would an ARC welder blow through this?
What would you guys reccommend?
Cheers, Stu.
