I am looking to buy a stud welder/dent puller to be able to pull some dents in 0.95mm steel. Of course since I have been needing one I haven't seen any used ones cheap locally.
I do not want one of those cheap China special ones so am looking at the following manufacturers:
Easy Beat (Australia) Models: 2000, 3000
Hirane (Japan) Models: AS-60, AS-80
Yashima (Japan) Models: YS-30, YS-50
Both the Hirane and the Yashima ones seem to only do 2400A, is this enough?
I have also seen the GYS 2600 however they appear to have moved production to China and it also only weighs 14KG compared to the others being 25KG+, I wonder if the 2600A rating is inflated.
I have read a couple of people saying the Easy Beat ones aren't good and that the cheap Chinese ones do better, not sure how true that is.
They all seem to have been common at one stage but now there isn't even a local distributor for Hirane but they will sell directly to me.
Does anyone have any experience with any of these or is there another brand I should look at? I will keep looking for a used one as I think $2300 (Easy Beat) is getting a bit expensive for me, the Yashima is $2000 and I am waiting on the Hirane pricing. The GYS is only about $850
This seems to be a bit overkill for home use but if I paid someone to fix just the first car then it would probably be more than these welders. I also don't really want to mig weld on washers etc (I did try it in a couple of spots) or drill holes as they will just end up making it more difficult for me to straighten.
I have also seen ones based on a 12V Battery, one of them even homemade. Maybe that is an option.
