Thanks for that quite helpful, just to clarify from these photos which photo is which lathe ?
Am I the only one thinking you're all being a bit harsh?
It does depend how much of a state it's in, of course, but it's got a moving knee, £200 worth of DRO, £100 vice.
Assuming all the moving bits actually do move that looks like a lot of mill for £650, or even better for the £450 or £500 you might offer the seller.
But I do agree with MetalMonkey that you would need someone with you who knew how to check it out, as it could also be an 850KG anchor...
Someone I know has decided to buy it if the price is right so after this lock down I’ll go with him with the trailer and winch / roll it on if he gets itGoing to disagree re the Hiab, a Blidgepolt size/weight mill's manageable with a 4x4 and plant trailer, take some scaffold poles as rollers to load, biggest crowbar and some hardwood wedges and a hatful of hefty ratchet straps - easy peasy.
Agree about the cleaning though, the rust on the ways would make me nervous and needs to be gone BEFORE moving any axis...
Dave H. (the other one)
Best way, get a mate to buy it, help him get it home and installed and bingo free access to a mill when you need one.Someone I know has decided to buy it if the price is right so after this lock down I’ll go with him with the trailer and winch / roll it on if he gets it
