Oh dear, oh dear...
Now, who's gonna be first with the "I told you so!" reply ?
I did say myself that I thought the TIG torch that came with the Highweld welder looked a bit 'light', well...
My mate Dave and I were putting a new trolley wheel on his trailer, good and solid it is, 5mm 'C' section and we're wending on an 8mm thick flange - so I had it cranked right up.
After about 100mm of weld the weld pool all boiled up and spattered all over!
Took a minute or two to realise: no gas (never happened to me before - told you I was new at this ).
The picture shows the inner copper core which has melted thru the gas pipe.
I now believe the chinese writing on the trigger reads:
WARNING
May melt if used for Welding !
After that we made a mess of his Clarke MIG welder torch (it melted and caught fire).
After that... we resorted to stick welding the thing on.
(looks a bit of a mess tho )
