buying a gas bottle?

hi everyone, i'm restoring an old beetle which needs quite a bit of welding. I have a 100amp mig which seems to be doing the job ok, though i'm pretty new to welding bodywork so early results weren't great, but getting better. Up to now i've been using the little disposable bottles of argon as i can't afford the £200 for a rented bottle. My question is can I buy an empty bottle off gumtree or ebay and get it filled just like a rented bottle? Sorry if this has been asked before. cheers John Mac

You can't buy a bottle firstly because it's the property of the gas company and you need an account with the gas company to get if filled.

Ffyfes in ballyclare or dunmurray do a bottle that you pay a returnable deposit for and no rent.

They won't do refills, they'll do exchange.
