To be fair it’s me leaning towards the jimny, she won’t drive a landy and to be fair I won’t have another anyways, and a jimny is still fixable with normal tools, without acres of electronics

This all also works in reverse. Every time I have sold a vehicle I am honest about it's faults then you get the punter, absolutely convinced there is something, somehow wrong with it, so determined to find fault. Drives me crazy.

The one and only time my colleague gave a price we would pay for an absolutely MINT air rifle over the phone sight unseen, it was missing the front sight and the stock was broken clean through at the hand. He never did it again.

I can understand that sentiment I hate over complex widgets…
What about one of these. Our farm sitter has one, though hers is a commercial I think as Ive never seen back seats in it.
My worst ones were the ones where I knew the issues but desperation and fatigue with seller's wrecks and having to get one of the kids transport up and running ended up making me buy them against my better judgement as the least worst options. Cars insurable by learners who just passed their test, and capable of driving in low emission zones fetch a massive premium here, and both offspring are at uni which are located in low emission zones. So its approaching 20 year old battered cast off's territory with suspension and drivetrain issues from the high mileage & now questionable electronics and plastics that fall apart in your hands. We drove thousands of km to even find the crapboxes we ended up with as the least worst option.
It is depressing how many people (& garages too) are complete liars, trying to be the next Arthur Daly or Del Boy and take in fresh faced learners trying to buy their first car. Well over half the cars we looked at from private sellers were garages trying to avoid the sale of goods act on used vehicles here.
The good ones I've bought secondhand have been all ex hire fleet scheme cars. They know what theyre worth because the calculations on depreciation are done before they're even bought new, they came back in agreed condition from the hirers, and nobody is trying to pressurise you to decide in a macdonalds car park while its pishing down, or in a showroom where you cant have a good poke about.

Traipsed around the country when looking for the integrale I still have 21 yrs later - bought in Reading, had all the faults I expected, but was at a price I was prepared to pay. So many others that even in a black and white photo would still have had different coloured panels, wrinkles from repairs, five different makes, patterns, and even profiles of tyres.
