Hi! I'm new to this forum ! I'm from Romania, student at the Tehnical University of Cluj-Napoca, car section ! I'm a classic car fanatic, I own a Lada 1500, and i'm rebulding it ! I wanted a quality DIY work, as i can't trust the local bodyworkers! So, i borrowed from a friend his MIG welder, with the gas bottle, and it has a separate wire de-roller ! The problem is that the welder has a home made outer case, so there are only buttons, whitout any marks on it ! It looks like a professional welder, by it's size ! The only problem is that i can't set it up correctly, as there are no numbers or indications by the buttons! It has an on/off switch, a wire speed adjuster, a big rotating switch (i guess power adjustment, witch has 4 positions), and another push-button, witch effect i don't know! I've tested it out, it works fine (spot and plug welding), but the problem comes when i need to butt weld! I know the tehnique, but my weld looks like crap (only tested it on a separate piece of metal)! unfortunately, i don't have photos about the weld, so i'll describe it as beeing continuous, but the top, and the sides of it it isn't flat, it looks like some small ball like welds being melt together to form a continuous row! And the height of the weld is also big ! What am i doing wrong ?
I guess that the problem is also with the settings! And when i do the weld, I hear that they are intreruptions, for like a fraction of a second ! This is how the welder looks like !
