burning kit

Hi all, i have been lucky enough to have been given a burning kit with all hoses, regs arresters and a trolley. currently it has a large propane cylinder (3/4 full) and an empty full size oxy cylinder.
Now then, I am also lucky enough to have a friend who has access to an endless supply of oxygen (she has severe asthma!) she has kindly offered to let me have one of her oxy cylinders and get it refilled when it runs out, but the cylinders are only the same size as diving cylinders.
My question is this, would there be any reason why i couldn't use this type of cylinder if i was to get the appropriate regulator. I have not had chance to look at the cylinder she has offered my as of yet to check what type of fitting it is for the regulator.
I was thinking about buying a plasma cutter until i was given this equipment, as it will probably only get used a couple of times a month and would only be used for light work. can anyone see any problems?
If at all possible i want to avoid the rental option due to not using it enough (and obviously being a tight ****!)

I personally wouldn't even go there. Inevitably it's paid for by the NHS so it's not really free is it. We may all need the service one day. My wife is disabled and I feel really humbled (if thats the right word) by the care given to her by NHS and it's staff.

I think the biggest problem may be your mate falling off her perch while you are merrily burning holes in lumps of metal with her life-support system.
Not sure it would look too good in the Coroner's court!.

itl be medical oxygen anyway, it wont be pure oxygen which is what you need for burning

Medical oxygen is 99.5% pure or better, same as burning oxygen

If you have 3/4 bottle of propane you will be fine for ages its the oxygen you get through cutting. If the propane is BOC its about £6-12 per year or rent one take your empty back a week later and get your hire refunded dont be too tight

Thanks for the replies guys, didn't intend to upset anybody with the question so please accept my apologies if i have.
only just got back home and looked on here to post an update on the subject regarding the oxy, the cylinders she has would be no good for what i need as they have there own built in regulator. although they look easy to adapt for what i need, i decided against doing so for obvious reasons already stated by others plus the fact that the cylinder do still belong to AP and i dont think that they would be too chuffed if i started adapting bottles for my own needs!
As for the NHS, I already know 1st hand what an excellent service it provided for me after 3 heart attacks and an ICD pacemaker being fitted, I owe my life to the speediness and the dedication of it's staff.
The propane is in a large solargas bottle, not a BOC of AP rental, so it looks like i will now be looking for a refill of the empty oxy i was given with the set.

Try Boss Gas just off Anderton Street Ince. I rang him last week re refilling a co2 cyl. He said just buy a cylinder off him for £20 Plus £20 for the refill and then just refill when I like afterwards @ £20

Seriously now. Your friend does not realise what she is letting herself in for. Oxy fuel burners use oxygen like theres no tomorrow. ie: really really quickly!
