hi
i have been lurking on here for quite some time.
gleening lots of useful information from you knowledgeable types.
i made this burner about four years ago using recycled bits and bobs and my now long gone sip handymate (Gasless)
the weld quality is quite poo looking at it now but hey its a burner and its stayed together this long.
i think the idea is quite good though and may be of use to someone else.
we use the burner for burning reciepts to prevent identity theft et.c.
believe me the wife supplies me with plenty of them.
it is also good after a bbq, i tip the leftover charcoal in with a few logs and have a patio heater for the evening.
i know wood burns better on ash and coal on a grate but this thing has burned anything we have thrown in without trouble.
it was silver at one stage and looked a bit like a rocket of some sort.
the ash pan and burn grill as you can probably tell were made from two old wheel rims with the centres cut out.
the legs came from an old tv unit and the mesh was a camping cooker shelf thing.
the lid was an old wok welded to the outer part of an old wheel rim and i think the chimney was part of a motorbike exhaust i had lying about.
the two lower sections come apart to help cleaning and are located onto each other using four pieces of pipe welded to the outer rim of the burn grill thingy.
it is actually matt black the paint is not dry at the moment.
personally i not a fan as the paint just falls off after a while i prefer the rust look but it keeps her indoors happy ish.
hope someone on here finds the idea usefull
merry christmas and a happy new year to all of you.
Bill
