burner flue help

been chewing the fat over this i am just going to start form the start i have a bigger bottle here at just over 2ft and it is around over 2 1/2 ft round
and i have steel tubing here at 4 inch ,just going to make it as basic as i can with the flue just off centre a door at the front and a smallish air vent with slider for air flow

my advice is to build it with secondary air just to conserve on a little bit of wood usage

but you still need a deflector plate in your build its not good to have a fire going straight up your chimney as this creates creosote build up within your chimney or tube

have done this as you say to a new project i have started today used a bigger bottle and have had my hands on a 5 inch flue liner 3meters for 10 quid bargin , and done as you say to have a filling door at the front and i have not put a grid in it this so it will be burning stright from the bottom of the bottle done a quick test on in the work shop works well to but only thing i forgot to do is burn the power coat off as me and my son took in most of the fums so it as been in the garden most of the day burning it off ,i will get some pics up of it in the morning time willing

as i mentioned secondary air as your burning wood its fine to do if burning coal or charcoal its underneath however you can get a quicker flame from air underneath

heres how it looks below your baffle plate

to use it its easy done or added to a system

its advisable to run the box section inside of the firebox

also take note of its knock plate as this keeps the heat going up above the baffle plate and if you note its only thin metal used

advantages 33 percent wood saved
cleaner burn
also better heat output
most systems can be adapted to use secondary air if your burning wood

this one is naughty but does work it really gets red hot

right here are some pics of it at the moment powder coat off sanded down and got the black paint on it i will give it a firing up in the morning as paint not dry

all working fine it was like a hot oven in the wok shop today

nice build by the way

have you noticed less smoke coming into the room with the bigger flue on it ?

if you have another entrance of air then close your door holes up best way is with steel 3mm pieces and weld them to the outside of the door or weld to the inside your choice

it saves it from constant roaring up your chimney all the time you will burn through loads of wood that way

all that would be needed after that is some firerope to seal your door to the gas bottle or the other way around which maybe easire for you to weld up the door seal

then your secondary air can be used more if you care to install it on your system

@jal123ddd what have you sealed the flue to the stove with?
Also the flue should fit inside the outlet not outside it

yes all fine no smoke blow back ,yer got second entrance for air and was meaning to put steel strips on the door but got to excited when seen it working tidy will be doing it some time in the week

i used some fire cement the smaller flue that is welded the the fire is 9 inch long and just small enough so the other flue fits over it very snug with the cement
