What should be used as a 3ph flexible ?

H07-RNF flexible cable is suitable for most applications, otherwise specialist cables.

I always thought that 440v cables needed a metallic sheath.

No requirement for that, not specifically for the voltage anyway, it may be required due to the type of installation or installation method.

I have mostly sy cable at work for machines/sockets etc...

it's up out of the way so no extra protection needed, it's 100 times better than swa for running around a factory / to sockets etc.


I know some people don't like it... electrician who did does work at nissan... if it's good enough for them it's good enough for me

might be 100 times easier to fit but not better its a controll cable and not bs approved . just because joe soap electrician uses it at nissan or anywhere else doesnt make it right . ive just removed 90 meters of 4.0mm 3 phase cable wired in the the stuff in a bakery that failed a test and rewired in swa . a so called electrician wired it all

How is it better for a factory? It is not mechanically stronger, it doesn't have any earthed armour capable of taking fault current, it doesn't comply with regulations.

What application is it used in at Nissan? I would imagine they have a lot of machinery where it is used for its intended purpose, that doesn't magically make it suitable for any other use.
