We have premises protected this way,but just a total waste of time for the ones we are discussing.A phone call to tell you that your premises have been entered is no use when you are thirty miles away.It is also no use to the police as they will attend to the gate at the end of the road half a mile away.CCTV is no use when thieves wear hoods and balaclavas.

the premises your talking about gone done over and you knew nothing about it untill the next morning?

gsm would at least of told you they were there long before they got in with external sensors.
looks like yer need to find some one up for answering the call nearer the place.

Quite agree you have to do their highly paid job for them.

The only time you will the police is to get a crime number or a couple of days after even when could catch them in the act.

You still can`t stop it happening.All it means is you know about it quicker.As it is inevitable that they will get in,the main concern is to limit what they can do once they are in.
BTW,see what Tesco did about shutters,alarms and cctv.They were still getting major losses because intruders were in and out in minutes when breaking into their small stores and service stations.Smoke Cloak stopped their losses though.
Look at it this way,you`re sat at a locked gate which you can`t open.Your alarm goes off and your phone tells you the premises have been entered.How long does it take you to cover the half mile to the premises on foot and in the dark? What are you going to do once you get there?The police won`t walk in,even if they do turn up in the next eight hours.

Has anyone any experience of the so called fog and smoke intruder deterents?
I`m also interested in the ones that generate a very loud noise which is so loud that humans just have to get out the place.
This is for workshops which are isolated and difficult to reach quickly.

You'd have to have some really serious vari pitched noise to deter people and the volume would be horrendous .. It's not uncommon for thieves to wear foam ear plugs so they get enough time to sledge the sounders or just do a quick 20 second ramraid .
The smoke might cause you more probs than it solves .
Knowing how people bitch I'm betting you would soon get a visit from the local noise prevention officer in the local county council environmental services dept if your sounders do go off for more than 20 min or sound because of a couple of unknown activations.
I seem to recall that you are supposed to fit a 20 minute cut off timer that will not reset unless the system is checked out . Thieves know this and hang a round just a bit away from the premises .. wait to see if someone comes etc. and also to set the alarm of several more times to see what happens .
They do not always steal at the first visit.. often it is more of a casing the place and then get orders for what they have seem then one night they return set the alarm off a couple fotimes .. and then steal to order.

Thieves do not always visit premises at the dead of night either .. Just after knocking off time is also a common one , for they are often not recognised / discovered easily.

I'd suggest an enquiry with a police crime prevention officer and also see if your insurance conpany has any advice sources.

There are some high intensity strobes with sounders that you fit above say 6 mtrs and these are confusing light sequences but they only work well in the dark . If the thief has one of the 1,000,0000 candle power hand held spot lights they can just walk about without any prob from the strobes..

Thieves will take what they feel like and little if anything deters them but one thing I have come across years ago was an effective deterrent .

Have you seen the Smart Water ads on TV ? Look up their website.

You can get Smart Water aerosol sprays actuated by your alarm .. thieves do not like to glow like a Martian ..each mix is unique to the purchaser & identifiable , there are also other marking products in their portfolio . You also get loads of very noticeable warning stickers.

Police forensics are very clued up about Smart Water , it is very difficult to hide involvement if aprehended or property is checked under UV light . Thus it really is a valuable deterent.

If you set things up with a phone notification system and you get the activation message .. be very wary of going to the place on your own and only in one vehicle..
It is not uncommon for a single person or pair of attendees to an alarm activation to get beaten up , held off at shot gun point etc. especially if your place is as you say out in the sticks. To add insult to injury they might also steal your wallet , phone & vehicle as well.

Looks nice with its red berries. If you fall in, you're doomed because it's covered with murderous 1 1/2 “ spines, that take no prisoners.

Local model engineering club had their new build clubhouse done over even before it was finished. Nothing taken, just a B mess.

As we are a Sunday tea stop for local plod they actually took an interest. CPO came round and told us to plant Rosa rogosa, wild bramble rose and Pyracanthea. All the vulnerable bits now have been covered. They called it 'defensive planting'.

You use it to suport the rambling rose & bramble, please try to fix it to the fence/wall @ least 18" from the floor so small animals don't get caught.
