Have a look into using crushed glass,no sillicosis and legal,not badly priced either
I use that, it's very sharp and works well on reduced pressure, it can embed itself in aluminium if you're not careful. It's OK on ally once its been used a few times.

as the sand is blasted over rocks with the wind and ground up on the roads by traffic . its allso ground up in foundrys after sandcasting by the fettlers . they use breathing gear but there isnt a dedicated booth to contain the dust of said parts .dow mack concrete near me used to shotblast the steelwork reinforcing bars on bridge end sections every week crap and dust allover
