I do confess to popping into my local fab shop for one-off odd pieces sometimes but always pay cash for them and they don't seem to mind.

I've got the £250 sports car book by Ron Champion.I found it to be more 'inspirational" than instructive.I actually got as far as building the chassis and had a 2.8i sierra engine mounted in it before work commitments etc ended my fun.I
followed whats known as the McSorley plans these and loads of other info can be found here: clicky
As for the buggy book,I've only had a quick browse but didnt think much of it.Much better buggy plans can be found here: clicky
Check out the customers buggies page some are a bit naff but some are nothing short of brilliant.I bought the plans for and built a Trax 1 which is a basic starter one,I used a Yamaha XS 250 bike engine and had some top giggles driving it around the fields.I also made the "Sidewinder" from borrowed plans.This one had independant front suspension and swing arm rear and was a 100% improvement but trickier to build but still doable by Mr Average.Access to a lathe makes things a lot cheaper/easier

Yep, I dont mind upto a point, then Il be rushed off me feat have 2 ships to get out to sea,half a 360 bucket to finish, and a dozen springy owls to make before sunset, then some old boy whos retired, or more likely a neighbor or "Friend" wants 5 bits of angle 2ft of bright, 20 holes drilled, and a route through the scrap bin all for what often feels like "love".....

A tad of an exaggeration I know but you get me point........Mrs Cat just thinks iv turned into a grouchy old git......It's something that I'm becoming quite proud of..

God i'd love to have a job with such variation as yours . Lets see, what shall I do today? I know, I'll press some buttons and hit some pedals cos I've never done that before . Sorry, slightly melancholy moment after a few beers and a curry.
But surely a few tax-free beer-nuggets in your pocket's ok for a couple of minutes of your time? .

Mmmmm yep shouldnt grumble really just seamed to have been Fookin busy the last few weeks, I dont mind really if things are quite then the Days just drag on..... As for material the tokens always help although often It Mrs C, who spends it, I guess I do the same with a guy I know who strictly works with non Ferrous materials, So its have you got blah blah.......only want xxx inches of xxxxx...

I'm in a bit of an awkward position really Snowy, been working at the same place for 15 years and it does pay well and I get lots of time off. I only work two 12 hour shifts then get 2 days off then two 12 hour night shifts then it's 3 days off. I'm not sure a 5 day week would suit me now as I've got so used to all the time off. As much as the job does bore me to tears sometimes, I work with a great bunch of lads (and lass ) and really look forward to my days off so I can do my own thing .

If I understand you correctly, I agree I used to feel daft for letting people take advantage of my generosity. Nowadays I tell people where to get off( when appropriate) and feel much better when I do.

I still have not bought the welder but hope to get it in the next month or two.

Try www.rorty-design.com for comprehensive plans or look at www.minibuggy.net if you want to see what can be built by the home builder.
Scavange on fleabay you may keep it under £4k/£5k I just picked up an Aprilia mille rsv motor (1000 cc V twin ) and ancillaries (make it go bits)for £199.00 a 600cc bike engine will have plenty power for a single seater,I am building a two seater at the moment and the tubing alone cost £350.00 The 150 amp mig will be good enough good luck and keep an eye on that budget. I see you are from Ireland if you are in the north find out where all the rally boys are you will be able to pick up their old 5 point harneses as they are dated to comply with regulations you should get them for nothing when they run out and if you are lucky an old bucket seat.
