Hi,
Have diesel twin with individual pumps and corresponding lobes on the camshaft.
One lobe is worn and 0.024" under the lift of the other (good?) lobe.
I have some of the HTS-528 brazing rods and wonder if they are appropriate to build the lobe?
Hard enough?
Have oxy-acet setup.
I'm doing an -in-situ repair (lobe the camshaft which is in the engine), as removing the tapered pins is proving difficult.
Would you even bother with pre-heat? If so, localized on the nose, or the whole lobe?
If not, any suggestions?
Attaching pics of the lobes, pretty sure it's cast iron...
regards,
nick
