Budget angle grinder

My old Halfords 308122 grinder motor spins but the mount for the disk doesnt.is this just the bushes ?

If the motor runs but the disc doesn't move then it's the gearbox that has died.

I have two of the lidl ones, didn't buy them for the grinder I just wanted to rob the speed controller out of them for another machine. They have taken some stick and still going strong. They are far from the smoothest of tools but you can't beat the value for money.

Only fit for the bin then, tried a couple aldi stores. None there at the moment , guy said they stock them often so I'll keep a look out.

Take it apart and have a look first, the gear may be loose on the end of the motor, some of the cheap grinders just have a through pin holding them on to the end of the armature which can easily shear, easy fix if that all it is

I bought a cheap silverline one once to finish a job, it didnt & went terminaly pop after 12 minutes use. Can anyone beat that?

We don't have a local Homebase but I bought a £10 grinder from one of their stores when I was away on a trip - got it home and it was dead straight out of the box.
Never found the receipt, and it was cheaper to buy another one at a local shop

Same here with the Makitas, have 2 x 115mm makitas and one 125mm one - the oldest one is about 15-16 years old, the others 5-10, never miss a beat.
