Had the power go off in the shed today and it's not likely to be back on for a week or more.
I've got a bit of tig to finish off, so thought i would have to drag the Lorch, steel and gas back home to do it.
I have a small 3 Kva welder /generator in the truck.....i didn't want to try the Lorch on it incase it fried something. I dug my back-up esab out of the bottom of a cupboard....... it last saw daylight a few years ago.
Connected everything up and gave it a go.........it took a bit of switch fiddling to remember how it worked and to my surprise it worked ok.
The HF start might be a bit dodgy but that could be me...........i have only taken it up to 90 amps but it works very nicely. I don't think the generator is going to like more than 90 but that's more than enough for the job.
Had to use a Torch sitting on a beam above me.
Welder/generator.
