BSF dies

Picked these up at a farm clearance the other day. I reckon they must be pretty old as I have never seen dies like these. Any thoughts?

i have the same set in bsf. i think i gave 15 quid for them 40 years ago there just split dies screwed from both sides rather than a single split round die trouble with them is there a bit bulky and take a bit of setting up so i aquired a set of round dies as well

I have the same set, Goliath Whitworth with the war department arrow embossed on it, really nice to use.

They look good quality for someone who needs BSF thread. Question how many people need BSF thread? I would only use it on machining/vehicle that was all BSF in the first place.

It's one of those things that are worthless to most people but if you need them they are priceless.

Its the thread that has been used for decades on fishing accessories and no one will bite the bullet and switch to another thread....lol

Is there any need to if that's the thread everyone uses, if it's changed you will end up with incompatibility problems. Do the Japanese use it on their bits & pieces? Not being a fisherman I wasn't aware that it was used at all.

Bit like the hole in cameras/videos for a tripod, 1/4 Whitworth. Dead up to date in todays market place

a lot of old gear are either whitworth bsf or unf and now and then u need one of them and they pull u out of the proverbial sh ,,,, anything new i make is allways metricthreads so u arent scratting through boxes of random nuts and bolts to see what fits
