got a dewalt brushless hammer drill for work and it gets hammered daily .I've had it over 2 years easily now and its still going strong .cost 150 quid from screwfix on offer with 2 batterys
I recently bought a new brushless DeWalt Combi drill to replace a 15yr old Bosch (early Lithium battery). They've come a long way as the new one is much lighter, got more torque and the batteries seem to last. Might not be a fair comparison but I think the batteries seem to last longer. (I had a fairly new one on the Bosch for comparison)
my bosch 18v brushless sds drill will work of 2ah or above no problem put same 2ah battery in the brushed one struggles and bogs dowm so defo brushless must be more efficient and also lasts a lot longer on a charge
The only time I've heard of people not preferring brushless are the groundworkers I work with
They recon the brushless stuff is more sensitive to mud and water getting in them
Either/either, IMHO. Whichever floats your boat most, or let cost decide. I've, upto just, had no problems with either, & if/when brushes need replacing, easily sorted. I've never, so far, used anything brushless & thought: "That's worlds apart from brushed".
Just bought Makita 40v brushless hammer drill/screw driver combi and angle grinder. The drill is a beast, highly recomend using handle when drilling wood because it will twist your wrsit like its nothing
Have two Makita 18v drills same size, brushed and brushless, no preference really but when the battery has run out on the brushed drill it will run the brushless drill for another minute or so before it stops. So brushless is no big deal for me.
I bought all brushless Makita when I upgraded my kit, pro use and abuse levels and no regrets at all, cost difference was negligible over brushed and the variable speed grinder has the same torque at all speeds, unlike the old brushed one
