I really do like my Makita DUX60Z with its various attachments. I also have a 4stroke unit but never use it these days. The hedge trimmer is a bit heavy but works well. The chainsaw is very good and the strimmer just works very well. It also has a bushcutter blade.
The Makita was a replacement for my old 2T Ryobi (black and grey) which packed up after 25 years faithful service.
How well does it cope strimming / brush cutting in big grass / weeds / brambles?
100% my experience too. The two strokes start whether I have run them dry and added fresh fuel or just used whatever was in there from last season. I think I have stripped three carbs across 10+ machines in 15 years because of a problem.

My house sits on a half acre triangular plot. Stream on one side, field on another and lane on the other. I generally strim the boundaries twice a year, in the late spring / early summer and autumn. Takes about half an hour each time. Weeds, nettles, brambles and other carp. Never have any problems. Nice and quiet with a lot of whizzing. Having said that, if I had a larger area I'd be looking at a back pack bit of kit. The noise would get me however. Since I've gone all electric life has been nice and relaxed.
I would call the Makita, high end diy.
Well eventually the EGO BC3800 brushcutter & EGO 1903E mower arrived BUT I had to wait another week & a half for the battery & charger.
The brushcutter is great. I have used it of rough knee high thick grass, brambles (fresh & old), raspberry canes (fresh & old) with the line trimmer & the metal 3 blade attachment. The 3 blade really kicks ass & seems to use less battery life. Its great for virtually mulching very over grown areas. So far the 56v 5ah bat seems to last about 20-30 mins of solid use dep on what I am doing. It then takes about 45 mins to charge inc cool down cycle. Once I have the area under control I expect usage to go up to match recharge time. Two 5ah bat should keep you going all day.
I also used the mower a little mainly as a hoover in the grass area. No real usage stats as the use was hardly typical. Filled the catcher twice for about half the bat using the drive motors as well as the cutter.

I would have a decent battery strimmer in a heartbeat if I could spare the cash but they are pricey.
I have a STIHL chainsaw and strimmer (MS160?? and the strimmer with cowhorn handlebars) and still have change out of a ton. They needed work but even so, that's a lot of tool for the money.
