Fridays appointment could not be as far removed from the emergency treatment I got.
The following issues drove me mad.
WOW!!!!!. Salisbury today. Appointment at 09:10. In at 09:25, but was told the times had slipped by 15 minutes. Spoke with the consultant and his attending Physio. Doctor I now know what is going on.
The rubber grommits will stay in place. But as the disc are not fully ruptured they will inflate them by a series of injections. The Junior doc is a petrol head and got my jokes about different air compressors.
So I am on the mend, not 100% but well on the mend.
Sorry about the rant, but as you may guess I was in a bit of discomfort on Friday.
But I still stand by the emergency side of the NHS.
The following issues drove me mad.
- Appointment was at 08:45. Instructions stated to be in there 15 minutes before your appointment. So 08:15 we saw the receptionist and told were to sit. 09:00 we asked when we will be seen, told doctors don’t arrive until 09:30, questioned why my appointment was at 08:45 and was told, they may come in early.
- When I saw the consultants junior doctor, 10:00 he had the MRI scan from December 2014, had not looked up I had emergency surgery that week. When this was pointed out to him, he had to get someone to translate my words to him!!!!!
- So after a further 2 hour wait we got to see the consultant. To be told that my follow up treatment cannot be done in that hospital. So I was booked in at Salisbury today.

Do not open if you're even slightly squeamish, that's nearly as bad as the "lathe death" pictures!When I had my spinal surgery they told me to lean flat against a wall if I had to sneeze. Has worked, so far.
Still no feeling in my right foot after 3 years but at least I can walk (like an MFI wardrobe) and bend far enough to just reach the bottom of my kneecaps.
You've seen the pictures, haven't you?

Is that your spine? I don't mean this to be an insult but is your skin usually like that or is it something they did for the surgery?

They put a sticky plastic cover on your skin, so I'm told. Stops the skin tearing. When the discs are fully deflated/torn/missing the bones will start to grind, hence the metalwork and spacers to repair the tapered non-parallel vertebrae. Amazing what they can do!
