Broadband Joy

After a week and a half of no broadband or a measly 0.7Mb, a BT Openreach van turned up today. I was expected an EE engineer and the usual non-result, but was encouraged when he showed up at 8:00. 2.5 hours later he was done. The dodgy joint at the bottom of the road was sorted (again) with the promise that a permanent fix is on the cards in the next week.

What bowled me over was the speed. I've been living with 2.5Mb/s since forever and been happy with it. What more can I expect with a piece of string soaked in bird urine?? 7.5Mb/s! Christmas is here. So happy I could burst. This even tops my wedding day.

I know how you feel. I'm living with BT speed of 2.0 MBit/s, but I recently got hold of a TP-Link mobile hotspot with "Three" 4G SIM, and am getting up to 53 Mbit/sec (usually more like 30) with unlimited data - makes internet so much more usable and enjoyable. And I can take it with me.

Be wary of 3's 'unlimited' package - they introduced an arbitrary cap of 60GB on the unlimited package here and sting you fiercely if you go over it.

Me and my better half both love The Prisoner series so we got married at Portmerion (where the series was filmed) and my Aunty made us a plate with the Penny Farthing bike on it with the line "I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed, or numbered! My life is my own!"

Yeah I have been keeping an eye on usage and it seems three are not seeing any usage from my account at all through this TP-Link box of tricks. Happy days. I just hope it stays like this.
