I've strung some of these scammers along before.
Furthest I went with one, was when I happened to have an old laptop connected via a network cable that I was playing with. I let them get as far as showing me all the 'Errors' buried in certain windows logs, then just as I knew they'd start copying their ransomware, I pulled the cable. They weren't too happy. They were even less happy once I called them a scammer, and highlighted it was 10 minutes of their time wasted.

NHS bosses have had to scrap millions of pounds worth of Dyson bladeless fans because they pose an infection risk.

Health chiefs forked out £1.2million on thousands of the luxury devices, which cost £350 a piece, between 2013 and 2017.

The trendy fans were installed at approximately 113 NHS trusts in England and Wales in a move that drew criticism at the time.

But the fans were scrapped last month after NHS guidance warned the gadgets had been 'linked to healthcare associated infections'.

The official guidance, seen by The Sun, said the fans acted as a 'reservoir for micro-organisms'.

Bladed fans, on the other hand, were deemed safer, despite costing a tenth of the price.

Staff at some hospitals have been ordered to bag up the Dyson fans, put them in storage and replace them with older models.

John O'Connell, of the TaxPayers' Alliance, said it had been a 'terrible use of taxpayers' cash'.

Ahh.. the good old sun red top, only 2 years late with their story.

Standard fans were believed to be responsible for spreading lurgies about wards, which is why I used to take in hand held fans when hubby was in hospital. They did have fans, but were mindful of their use. The Dyson, although expensive, were seen as the answer to preventing air born things. No blades for stuff to grow on, and able to ‘clean’ the air. Just read Dyson’s ads to think that.

Unfortunately, they were linked to a hygiene risk by an English hospital, so were removed. Reports on all this were released in Scotland at the beginning of this year. I believe the initial report was released in 2017.

Yes, but no ‘outside’ fans, hence thought to be better. Sadly, Dyson have not cracked the wizardness of completely fanless fans yet.

@mrs bruce Aye, when I was in isolation for 6 weeks in ARI 7 years ago for my stem cell transplant, they brought a Dyson fan into the room which was then iirc correctly was the ARO6 model, so newly to market. Unless businesses like the NHS got them in advance, either free for testing & reporting back, or at very much reduced prices for that size of orders but always subject to reporting back.

I missed the construction of a fine, brand new department, even in the en suite shower/toilet the shower had in my room, but been disabled because of fears of salmonella which I understood was in the showering/bathing system at the time and there was [understandably they couldn't risk any infection if it could be avoided, since they'd just killed off my immune system completely using 'high dose chemo'] - so all I had a wash hand basin to perform my 'ablutions' in, wouldn't have been so bad if I hadn't been permanently tethered to a machine like this

through a cannula, firstly in the back of my hand [how did they think I was going to keep that dry??? I did my best but you can what I must have smelled like. On the plus side, it did give the cleaner somewhere to stored all her materials which also had to stay in the room with me, although they room was thoroughly cleaned/disinfected every day - even to my laptop.....

When they finally 'broke' my isolation time, they were surprised that I wanted to go straight for a proper shower as opposed to get something to eat , and then took to coming to shout "Are you OK in there, John?" I spent at least half an hour in there having washed I just stood under the water, may have been even more, but at least I felt human again.

I saw it later when visiting my pal's wife who had been admitted for surgery but sadly didn't make it.

I worry about the criticism the NHS is getting just now from certain areas (outwith this forum), myself having nothing but praise for them. It does make you wonder why 2 year old stories (among others) have emerged at this precise moment. Not wishing to appear either political, or a conspiracist (please mods, let me know if I’m crossing ‘that’ border), I have noticed this happens every time a ‘sell off’ opportunity (other occasions available) appears. You make people feel unhappy about something, then use that as the excuse to play footie with it.

Back on topic, I have just started the ball rolling on Zen Broadband. More expensive than some but £20 cheaper than our current BT package. Just need to see if I can get a new BT facia plate as the phone side doesn't work, not that we ever used it much in recent years other than to shout at cold callers.

We have satellite broadband here, BT were £50 something for below 1.5mb broadband seeing as we didnt use the phone, satellite is £36 a month for 25-30mb broadband, they could have done phone for another £7 a month but we never use it so didn't bother. It cost £200 to setup the satellite but seeing as our broadband was so poor we got a government grant of £190.

That's unlimited, they had a couple of cheaper options with limits on them but we pretty much only watch stuff online now so needed the unlimited.
