I've strung some of these scammers along before.
Furthest I went with one, was when I happened to have an old laptop connected via a network cable that I was playing with. I let them get as far as showing me all the 'Errors' buried in certain windows logs, then just as I knew they'd start copying their ransomware, I pulled the cable. They weren't too happy. They were even less happy once I called them a scammer, and highlighted it was 10 minutes of their time wasted.
