Whenever you get experts on the radio or TV talking about the best way to make tea they always say the water should be at 80'C. When you go above that, you make the tea leaves release tannin which gives the tea a comparatively bitter taste. Also, the lecy meter goes round quite a few times getting from 80 to 100'C, and then most kettles will sit and boil the water for a minute or so before the stat eventually switches offAsda had a good own brand one with temperature control. .Would agree with that. We keep a manual kettle on the oil fired range. If you need tea you drag it onto the hotplate and within a few minutes its hot enough for tea. Not quite boiling but the tea tastes better for it.Whenever you get experts on the radio or TV talking about the best way to make tea they always say the water should be at 80'C.
