Does it have a brass or steel cartridge or something else ?The new calibre is a 6.5mm faster flatter flying round, to pierce body armour.

But not too sporting......Had to smile at one comment wrt the SA80 videos
" The Brits are a fair minded race "
" They like to give the enemy a sporting chance "
My brother has shields from the Army for shooting both the SLR and Stirling.
Not sure, theres plenty info on line, I assume its a normal bullet…Does it have a brass or steel cartridge or something else ?
I have seen people test firing it. Far too much recoil for automatic fire. The same reason Britain went for single shot SLRs. In Afghanistan long range shots in the mountains were the norm. In Ukraine street style fighting is more common. Or even trench warfareNot sure, theres plenty info on line, I assume its a normal bullet…
he UK Ministry of Defence is initiating
Project Grayburn to replace the SA80 rifle by 2030, with 150,000–180,000 new weapons potentially adopting higher-lethality rounds like 6.8x51mm or 6.5 Creedmoor for better range and armor penetration. The new rifles will likely be conventional, not bullpup, with a focus on modularity, suppressors, and domestic manufacturing.
Yanks seem to be going 6.8x51.

Yes bigger bullet will be more recoil, to every action there is an equal and opposite reaction and all that. One factor in ammunition selection is where its most likely to be used. But another is weight, Id rather carry 500 rounds of 556 rather than 762. I have the imperial equivalent of both and the .223 has very little recoil compared to the 308. Fully auto is great until you need to carry the ammo a 30 round mag lasts about 4 seconds!I have seen people test firing it. Far too much recoil for automatic fire.
