I found mine easier to move with the knee still on, strapped to a pallet truck for easy handling, straps removed just before this shot in case you are wondering if I really did move a mill on a skiddy sheet of osb just placed on the truck...

Decided to make up a little dolly to assist in moving the column tomorrow. I had planned to drag it around with the crane but this will be easier and safer:
I got some casters from Machinemart today and used some steel that's been kicking around for ages. Casters are rated for 102kgs each.
Is there some kind of prize for this activity?Main column is now in position. This is going to be a study of how small a space can you locate a Bridgeport in!
Since it is wasted space behind one in the corner, ?Why not fabricate sloping panels which keep everything, swarf, coolant and escaping bits of machined metal or plastic, towards the front of the machine?More pics yet? the only downside to wedging one into a corner like you have is sweeping the chips up from the bit behind the column when everything is fitted and its a case of bringing it out the corner until cranking the table doesn't skin your knuckles on the wall at max extremes of travel. But, once placed a chip hoover and decent brush and a bit of swearing see's to that.
Is there some kind of prize for this activity?

Compare the pic above with the one earlier of the head swinging on a strop, it was actually cut down (and converted to 2 speed + vfd) to fit in because of the space available!
Spindle is qc30, everything done fromthe business end of the spindle by rotaing a locking collar to lock the quickchange tooling in, no drawbar. How do you do up the draw bar? Or am I missing something.
