Brass fumes

Hi all, i hope somone called advise me on here please.
I have constructed a wood burner using a gas bottle and have used an old boat port hole for the door. I didnt think about it at the time, but assuming the door gets hot would it give off fume sthat are potentially harnful?
I am pretty sure the port hole is made of brass.

Brass doesn't give off fumes until it melts, how hot will your fire get?

Brass melts at 900C or over and the outside of the stove won't get anywhere near that, so I wouldn't have thought you'd have a problem. I'm sure I've seen brass bits and pieces on wood burning stoves and fireplaces.

Welding brass would be different because the temperatures are much higher.

Zinc boils at 907C and steels melt at 1300C and over. If you weld galvanised steel, the coating will evaporate and you'll get lots of fumes.

they used to use brass on steam engines and stuff like that
