Braking Resistor On A Saturday?

Anyone know where I could pick up a braking resistor on a Saturday?

Urgently needed for machine production tomorrow.

40 Ohms 80W

This one has gone open circuit and as such the machine throws an over voltage dc bus error every operation.

Not much help, I know, but if you search wider than 'braking resistor', you might be in luck.

RS call them 'wirewound power' resistors - braking in this context is the use case not a specific product identifier:

50W 40 ohm seems a lot easier to find than the 80W version.

Swing by Aldi's with an ohmmeter.
Toaster, electric fry pan, or space heater might just do the trick.

Any trailer suppliers or agricultural suppliers near you? The resistors for LED lights are normally about 8 ohms, daisy chain 5 of them in series will give you want you want.

5 or 6 incandescent 12v stop lamps in series, I assume you can still buy? It would light up whilst braking as a bonus!

I did wonder about this. But the DC bus voltage could be 400V if I remember correctly, would you need light bulbs rated at that voltage?
