Similir ish story always wanted one , main dealer px had a transmission noise , not neglected though FMDSH 73,000 2 owners and sold as seen . so I drove it till the noise got worse , rear output shaft bearing on the transfer box ( recon box £650 did it my self ) and needed a rear light . did all the oils and had the auto box flush and filter . Over time usual service items , I'll need an upper tailgate , leaky wiper motor now sorted with an adapter . same as you just starting to show in odd spots on the arches . big electrical issue the RSE keeps losing connection ! really bugs me . definately a motor with a love hate relationship but I wouldn't be without it. btw the wheels were genuine overfinch Tiger 22"s but they'd tramline and spoil the velvet ride so they went I sourced a set of gen 20" supercharged alloys much better .I bought mine as a trade-in with lots of issues, it had basically been neglected for several years. Admittedly I'm in a good position to bring it back to life (trade parts & free labour) but it hasn't been excessively expensive HP fuel pump, front suspension arms, struts, rear dampers, inlet manifolds plus transmission flush & all other fluids - all of which I knew about before I bought it with ~150k on the clock, a few other smaller issues (TPMS, climate seats, FBH glow plug) and a replacement upper tailgate due to corrosion, I've spent £1800 on parts - but it's now just servicing & maintenance, oh, and the rear wheelarches, obviously!
Here it is before I bought it, the wheels are the originals (yuk!) Job 1 was to get rid of the sidesteps
