I used to work in a motor factors in my teens, we made up brake pipes to size.
Lines were made from steel as original on most cars of the day, and a Sykes Pickavant vice mounted flaring tool…tubing/pipe whatever, needs to be cut square and deburred…
Never got it wrong…
I also own the same tool for own use, flared steel and Kunifer without issue.
