my dad has a old toyota saloon and one brake light side keeps going, just wondered if any you guys ever had this prob.
Had it on a motorbike the other week and couldn't cure it (cheaply) so fitted a new LED bulb and it's not blowing now.![]()
the reason probably is the passenger side gets the most jolts of the potholes and rough edges on the road . hence the brittle filament breaks easily . my righ hand bulb on my van was going like clockworkyes its the passenger side. is that a 50/50 guess. i dont understand why the earth would make a diffrents, does it mean it now getting 20volts

Probably not road legal either![]()
They are used in lots of production cars, bikes and commercial vehicles nowadays, it's evolutionThey are not cheap though
Yer they are used in modern car lighting however the legal problem is that replacement lamps must be of the same type and wattage as was fitted to the lamp holder when the vehicle was type approved.
You'll have to find me something that states that other than referring to headlights. There's nothing in the MOT manual that precludes the use of led replacement stop and tail lights in the original fitting.
