I think I agree with your twisting idea
maybe they had issues with the pistons not pushing equally to my mind it just gives another potential point of corrosion problems which could make things worse rather than better
I've never seen calipers like those in person... they look smaller than I'm used to... maybe it's to save weight? the pads are a lost less enclosed than normal?
unsprung weight in the wheels etc. messes with ride/sound more than you'd expect
so they cut down on the size of the caliper to save weight, but then they need to support the pads more?
Yeah I'm sure they're just copies of something...They are small...They're advertised as Chinese scooter calipers etc only reason I'm asking is they're on a horse cart I'm repairing, only one of the 4 calipers has the extra leg on one of the pads, but it doesn't have the part that connects it to the slide pin, was just curious/thought it might have been obvious what it's for but maybe not!
