While I have a bit of spare time I have been trying to get to grips with screw cutting and the change gears on my Boxford BUD lathe. Yesterday before I started I took a picture of the gear set up so I could reset it all back after playing.
I think I have got to grips with cutting basic metric threads with the gears I have.
Today it crossed my mind roughly what ratio the leadscrew should be to the spindle /chuck for ordinary finishing work? I counted the rotations and at the moment my lathe is about 24 revolution of the chuck to 1 of the lead screw, does this sound about right?
Cheers Pete
