You need to look at machine tool suppliers but I don't know any online ones on your side of the pond.Thanx for the kind words, Graffian.
Hmm well, from my initial enquiries - oil is going to be a huge problem. Phoned BP, Caltex and Shell depots and they do'nt even stock a good slideway oil, phht.
I think I should just use some lithium grease for the gears and a good machine oil for the slideways and rest of the lathe.
Don't get too bogged down trying to find the exact oil spec'd for your lathe it'll drive you nuts. Most lubes for 50-60's type stuff is not made anymore.
As correctly stated you won't find the oils in the manulas as most were written in the 50 and 60s.
All you need is a oil specifically for slideways as it is different to motor oil. The exact grade isn't important like it is for an engine.
It isn't hard.......this guy sells Vactra2 on ebay....... 250ml for what £6.25 inc delivery?
