Exactly, Richard. That's a modification that you might need to do HPS.Lock it off when making the cut.

great Idea, What is the grub screw size and pitch is it 2BA or something similar? Did you make or purchase the grub screw?Yes. Since most of the time it's further forwards on the dovetails the rear gib screw is fine. Even so, it can foul the compound. That's why it's fitted with a long grub screw that allows me to adjust tge lever position. There's also a small O ring to provide friction to keep the lever horizontal when unlocked.
It's 2BA. I've a lot of them. Can pop one in the post to you.great Idea, What is the grub screw size and pitch is it 2BA or something similar? Did you make or purchase the grub screw?
Yes please Mate that would be a step in the right direction all I need to do then is turn a few little bits and hey presto I can lock the cross slide. It's 2BA. I've a lot of them. Can pop one in the post to you.
If you mean for the X10 - no.I wonder if the cross slide would be straight swap?
I didnt think so!If you mean for the X10 - no.
I wouldn’t bother making something like that - needing shim-washers to keep the handle in the right place... I would just buy a suitable one of the adjustable clamping levers.
I see they still sell the metric lead screw and nut for these old lathes. I presume mine is imperial but I guess the metric would be a straight swap if one was swapping the nut and screw?
cross slide lead screw and cross slide lead screw nut, the lathe lead screw is a whole another can of worms!Presuming is likely to get you in trouble - especially when it is so easy to measure, to be confident tather than guessing. Are we now talking about the lathe lead screw - or still on the cross slide feed screw?
thank you for that I learnt something else today. The confusion comes from incorrect terminology. The slides have feed screws. The carriage has a lead screw.
