bought an old welding table I need to alter I'm making it 41 inches from the ground they will be Jack down wheels

and adjusters probably best see picture

how far normally would use it the bottom shelf from the ground i much prefer to work standing up

is it worth putting a cut out so I can sit down I will be getting a TIG welder later thinking about the foot pedal?

just seen the part about introducing myself I will do that later

How tall are you?
41'' is quite high,so i'm guess your rather tall,so really make it to fit,to low and you've got the neck/back problem to overcome,to high and you have the hassle lifting up that heavy object on top of it.
How happy are you in the kitchen,comfortable making a sarnie worktop height 900mm-930mm?

Made my work bench quite high, works for me but wouldn't suit a shorty.

Oh and welcome too BTW.

Make half the lower shelf detachable or folding so you have the option of being able to sit down ?

sorry been busy finishing my welding shed and table I found the perfect solution to late individually adjustable legs sods law just welded the boxes sections to the angle iron I will post the link for individual adjustable legs for you at the end
my old workbench is 41 inches high been the highlights for 40 years I settled on a 10 inch bottom shelf so if I'm sitting I can use the TIG pedal when I get one I'm just under 6 foot but it's a nice high I much prefer to stand

it has taken a long time and a good few months when I had time but now I'm retired it's getting there
think I learnt a lot on how to wield on altering the table
next projects plasma cutting table next to the welding one
