Good choice, I've had an XPS for a few years now, it's a nice laptop.

The "Butterfly" keyboard is something to do with the mechanism under the keys, doesn't really matter what it means, it's just a keyboard. It always takes a bit of getting used to a new keyboard but once you have, this is the nicest keyboard I've ever used.

I have (finally) found a 65% mechanical keyboard with hot swap keys so I can get the exact feel I want

Needed to be 65 and not 60 as I need a DEL key that isn't alt+ backspace

Better laptop equals better keyboard in my experience

I hear you - but I just needed a new lap top - I didn't want to have to "get used to anything" - and a butterfly keyboard is more than "just a key board" - it looks, feels and responds differently than those it has replaced. If I sold my 2007 TDV8 tomorrow for a new car - would it take me 6 weeks to learn how to drive it....??
And if my wife left me tomorrow - would it take me 6 weeks to remember how not to make the same mistakes.?
Believe me - a "Lap Top" change is a "Project" - and one we can all well do without.

Don't forget that" improvement leads to deterioration". Personally I just want to use the thing and not have to go through a learning cycle every time the manufacturers change yet another 'thing' to increase sales. Yet another example of planned obsolescence.
