Just wondered if anyone had ever used one of these, & what they're like for size & weight? Rarely use a SDS these days, but I've been contemplating getting a small, lightweight one for a while. The Makita is a bit chunky.

I have the 18 volt DeWalt one and it has done a LOT of work for me, really pleased with it.

Got a old GBH 24 VRE had it for ages,still packs a punch over new stuff,tbh,if you're doing a lot of work with your choice i'd up the batteries 2Ah dont last long esp if you've serious drilling to do

I have the 18 volt DeWalt one and it has done a LOT of work for me, really pleased with it.

Worth a shot then, you'd say? I have the Makita if I need more grunt. This is just for ease of use at home, etc. Walls are around 12' high in the flat, so something I can easily hold & use one-handed is definitely a plus, if I'm up the stepladder.

It wouldn't be getting a lot of, nor heavy, use. I kept all my Makita fitting gear, for if I ever need grunt.

Unless you are really going to work it go with a bare unit you have batteries to fit

if you are going to work it then buy with a bare unit and more batteries

No point in buying more battery systems

Have no 18V Bosch gear currently. I only have 12V gear in Bosch, (& they don't do a 12V SDS). All my 18V gear is Makita. I prefer Bosch gear though, hence the choice of kit.

It ticks the boxes for size & weight, (hopefully), & brand.

I've had the 36v version years ago, the full size and the compact

Both got properly abused, 36mm in masonry on a regular basis

Think they were stolen before I managed to kill them

Do Bosch do a 12v SDS? I know the Mikwaukee M12 SDS is popular with tradesmen for exactly what you describe you need it for

Yes! I had a works one and it was very good! I think it had the 1.5ah batteries so didn't very last long but you can buy up to 5ah now.
It's perfect for drilling the odd hole and I'm pretty sure it drilled a few 20mm ones too.
I have 12 & 18v Bosch so have been tempted to by my own.

I have the older version of that. Too big & heavy for one handed use, even without the battery fitted. I'm also trying to move away from Makita with future purchases.

None of their gear has ever failed me, but any new additions, I'd prefer to go with Bosch.

That's the problem. They're about the only manufacturer who doesn't, apart from in their green range.

I'm using an old nicad DeWalt with lion adapters. Big old lump but still usable one handed when reach is an issue

Yes they are easily light enough to use overhead, probably not quite as powerful as the old 24V SDS but it is a close run thing. I kept the 24V when I got a new 18V just in case the 18V was not man enough but I have never felt the need to use it, that been said we don't have to mount traditional CRT screens these days so the 18V has an easier life than the 24V did.
