My poor ol bosch pro angle grinder finally gave up the other day. Gutted. Had this grinder for 6+ years and it's never failed. It's done some serious graft. Was using the other day and noticed the speed slowly decreased followed by a burning smell. Totally gutted. Its a perfect size and I use it one handed. Had to rush out and buy the aldi grinder and in all fairness its been but has an awkward trigger so two handed only...

Yes possible. I will take a look. I can replace it will the same model but that ol grinder I had moulded to lol

That looks very similar to one that I have, and yes the brushes can be replaced.

Our fabricator guy at a place I used to work had a Bosch one and it suffered proper dogs abuse, but still kept going. Think the bearings went in the end and it had to go, replaced with a makita but that lasted nowhere near as long…

Worth repairing,looks like a German one as well ,I keep mine going with up to 3 sets of brush replacement,my old ‘80’s ones that were lower wattage even warranted bearing replacement.
The hours they clocked would have been impressive.

That grinder has had serious abuse. Its built 3 tar tanks. And countless other projects and works. One of the best bits of kit I have ever brought

If the special smoke has escaped, chances are it'll need more than brushes.

The quality has gone down nowadays ! I have an old, 15 years + bosch grinder and its lasted very well indeed, its being used daily in my workshop- its a 115v model. All the other bosch 240v ]grinders i have had lasted nowere as long as this one !

Got a hikoki grinder,
Nice 115mm size grinder with the single handed switch.
Was relatively cheap at circa £40 also.

I have one Chinese Bosch,got lucky with that,but another one,it got replaced 6x,eventually I asked the supplier to give me a German one,as I heard they were stopping production there,15 years later and countless brushes,it’s still going,outlasted the hitachi,aeg,Milwaukee,and Makita.

Doesn't mean the quality has gone down.

I think it means variable quality,I think the Chinese CAN make anything as good as anyone,but left to their own ,will cut corners.

Hopefully it'll be fixable, if not, I may be able to use some of it to fix mine which didn't react well to having to do overtime repeatedly - couldn't bear to chuck it out!
